      Hello

I am asking if there is anyone out there that might know if there are any programs or organzations out there that will help with the cost of an application fee and security deposit for an apartment, I live in Henry county GA, ( McDonough ) but want to move to Norcross GA which is a different county, there is a $70.00 application fee and a security deposit in the amount of $287.50, we need help with those two things, also does any one know if there is any cheap home phone services and any programs for low income for water and electric?

I want to help people as much as I can. In every state there are different programs offered through the local welfare department. That is a good place to start to get help with food and medical bills and coverage. I know times are hard. There are also many medical, dental and eye clinics out there to help those without insurace to get the help they need and the medicine they need. sometimes these clinics can get you medication for free from the drug companies. Just google free medical clinics for your city and state. Also 211 is a great place to get referals. Don't be afraid to make all the phone calls you need to. there is always a person or place out there to help you with what you need. Just remember that you need help as do other people. so the next time you have some can food you wont eat dont toss it or give it to someone who already has take it to a food panrty or homeless shelter. give your used coats, shoes, blankets and clothing to shelters and various programs out there. Good luck everyone. And remember there are always section 8 and low income housing out there too to apply for. And there are programs to help with job training, schooling and free or reduced child care. Whatever you need just go to google and search for it. good luck!

Needing Help Getting A Place To Live.

      Posted in christina&jamal on Feb 13, 2010

Okay i am not sure where to start this, My name is Christina  and my boyfriend is Jamal. We have had a long tough road we been traveling on for sometime now. I think we have had more bumps and let downs then anyone we have ever known. I know my own life has been a struggle always but i try to remain open and honest and have faith in my darkest moments. Jamal and i been together for two years now and we dont always have an easy relationship, but at the end of the day we love one another and need each other to lean on through out this tough time. We have moved four different times. From PA to GA, then from GA to TX, then TX to LA, then LA to GA.

We moved to GA to be together and lived with his mom for about 7 months. Then we moved to Texas where a friend of his said there were alot of jobs we  could get. I was 5 months pregnant with twin girls and i wanted a nice place of our own. so we packed the car up and moved to Dallas Texas. with in a few weeks it did not work out staying with his friend and we were out on the streets.I lost the babies and life was on a down ward spril. I was miserable and he was too there was so much pain and heart ache. we spent the first night sleeping in the car in a wal mart parking lot. Then we moved into a weekly hotel. We live in two different hotels. For the next four months, Jamal got a job and even though it was a temp job and he hated it we were thankful. The next day out car was totaled. this meant no way for him to get to work, he lost the job and we were locked out of our hotel room for non payment. we rented a penske truck and went and got all of our belongings and slept in the parking lot for 2 days so we could decide what we were going to do. We decided to just drive to New Orleans where Jamal use to live to see if he could get his old job back. He couldn't but he applied everywhere. We moved into a motel 6 and there we lived for the next 2 months. It was a hard time and out relationship was crumbling.

We called his mom and explained this to her and she told us we could move back to her house to get out lifes together. So we went back to GA. Neither of us really wanted to but there were no other options. Now here we are living at his moms and Jamal is working whenever he can get the days to work. He id doing free lance and still looking for something better and more stable but the jab market is tough. I am waiting for a decison on my SSI. And  we are now expecting a baby due at the end of July. His mom is tired of us being here and she said she has no freedom since we are here and she wants her place to herself. so we really need some help to get a place of our own. if there is anyone that knows anyone who can help us out please let me know. we applied to section 8 and low income housing but there is a waiting list for the next four years. we need something fast and quick. Thank you for your time and i am waiting for any and all advice.

Posted in Discussing "Emergency Shelter" on Jan 27, 2010

I am usually a wealth of information. But this time I am the one needing the information. My boyfriend and I have stumbled upon really hard times in every area of life. we have been living with his mom for a few months now and she decided she can not have both of us here. So she told me this afternoon I have to find somewhere to go before Friday. Not long enough time huh. I am not from here and I moved here to be with my boyfriend. I am 1200 Miles from home. Idon't have anyone here or there that can help me out. I have called shelters and 211 and there is nothing out there for me. We are on the waiting list for section 8 and low income housing in 4 counties is GA the four that were taking applications but that is still a year or 2 wait. We applied in a few other states as well and nothing yet. I don't know what i am gonna do I am pregnant and about to be homeless I have never felt so alone and out there. I am open to suggestions. If you have any info please let me know. I just want a roof over my head. I want my bf to be there too so i was more so looking for a weekly motel..apartment or room for rent.

Does anyone know if salvation army will help with security deposits and first months rent? or if there are any places that help with things like that?

      Hello.

Well here I am sitting here and feeling so lost. Life took a bad turn for us almost 2 weeks ago now. I just found out I am pregnant and it is a very high risk pregnancy. And there are more life issues. I now have until Thursday night or 7am friday morning to fina a place to live. I have no friends or family here at all. I have no car and no job. I am waiting a decision from SSI that i should have in the next couple weeks. I have a small amount of money but not nearly enough for rent anywhere. This is the 4th time in 3 years my world fell down around me and I am at my wits end. I am looking to see if there is anyone here that may know of any kind of help i could get with getting a place to live. I called 211 and all the shelters and there was no luck there. I am on the housing waiting list for section 8 and there are no other agencies out there that i am aware of. any help would be greatly appriciated, thank you for your time =)

Hello Missy, I seen where you are in need of medical care. There is a clinic here in Henry county. Eagles landing part of stockbrige. It is called Hands of hope and they have free dental services they offer. If you need something done they can not do in their office they give you a referal and pay for it. Here is their phone number 770-507-1344 call them and see if you can get in. Explain your pain and see if they can help.if they are not taking new people ask them if they know anyone in your area that is. they are great there. they helped me get all my meds for free and provide medical care for me. good luck. i been there before and had all my teeth taken out and it felt so much better. good luck and ihope everything works out for you.

Hello, My name is Christina and I am 30. I have been in the atlanta area for over a year now. My boyfriend ( Jamal ) and I have been staying with his mother and we have came across some difficult times and now she wants us out of her home. My boyfriend works a free lance job and doesnt have anything steady. We just found out we are having a baby too. We have place to go and hardly any money. We applied for public housing but there is a 2 year wait on that. I am looking for any help there is out there. We need to find something as quick as possible. I have no friends or family here. I have no outside help and like i said his mom wants us out of her home. If you or anyone you may know could help us out please email me at christinawest@live.com. I am looking forward to hearing from you and I thank you for your time.

      Thank You,

      Christina And Jamal
